Today I’ll be sharing with you the wedding of Zac and Nicole. This was a beautiful wedding at the Torrey Pines Hilton! I was working with Sabrina Cadini of La Dolce Idea on this wedding, one of my absolute favorite vendors. Zac and Nicole were a lot of fun from the very beginning. They were planning a destination wedding in San Diego, so our first consultation was over Google Hangout (video chat). We virtually met and chatted about mostly music. Zac was a very musically oriented guy and listened to all kinds of country, progressive bluegrass and nearly everything else. Zac is a professional Hockey referee who was born in Canada, so it was fun getting to know his musical preferences and of course how Nicole wanted the day to go ideally. We really clicked at our consultation and from there, they decided they wanted to work with me.
Later in the planning process we met in person to talk over all of the hypotheticals we reviewed at our initial video consultation, and to get to know each other a little better. Getting to know my clients as much as possible is a key part to allowing me to offer the quality of service I am used to. I really enjoyed talking with these two about their take on San Diego and all of the elaborate planning they had been doing with Sabrina. Of course I was very interested in their musical tastes, as theirs different than the average San Diego couple and I wanted to ensure that it was as personalized as possible so they would enjoy the music service to the fullest. One thing that I really enjoyed about working with Nicole and Zac was how enthusiastic about their event they were, and how trusting they were in their vendors. Zac had even made mention of how much he loved working with myself and all of the vendors that Sabrina had helped them find during his welcome speech at the reception. I love this kind of gratitude and it really makes working hard for people like Zac and Nicole all that much more enjoyable.
I had never worked at the Torrey Pines Hilton before, only next door at the Torrey Pines Lodge. So the ballroom setup and the load-in was a first time experience for me. I used wireless speakers for the cocktail area and outside the ballroom on the patio, as well as some basic dance floor lighting. Many of Zac’s friends were Hockey players in both the NHL and the AHL. The best man had a hilarious toast, and then dancing was underway with an abundance of country and a bit of variety. This was also my first wedding working with Brooke McDougal of Brooke Aliceon Photography and I really enjoyed getting to know Brooke and her husband.
The first dance with the happy couple.
After that, I typically like to invites the guests to join the bride & groom on the dance floor to open things up!
Some open dancing with all of the guests. Zac and Nicole didn’t have an abundance of traditional dancing events at their reception, so we had plenty of time on the dance floor for the guests to dance to whatever they liked.
The Father / Daughter Dance of course, one of the most traditional things to do at a wedding!
Some more open dancing with the guests!
A special thanks to Brooke Aliceon Photography for their lovely photos. Thanks to Sabrina Cadini for her great work planning this wedding, with this very fun and vibrant couple. Thanks so much for having me be a part of your wedding Nicole and Zac! I really appreciate all of the kind words and the fun that was had together on your wedding day!
