This was the first opportunity I have had to DJ a Wedding at the Crossings in Carlsbad. It is one of the closest Wedding Venues to my house, and it is such a great location. Hopefully this starts to happen more! Kristen and Cody were referred to me by a past client, which probably explains why I was invited to DJ at the Crossings. The Crossings is a venue with a strong preferred vendor list, and the onsite coordinator strongly recommends the vendors on their list. Most of the vendors I’ve spoken to in San Diego through ABC and other networking groups, mention that they have never had the opportunity of working their either. Perhaps in time, more couples who get married at The Crossings will begin reaching out to some of the amazing vendors San Diego has to offer, as Kristen and Cody did.
The Crossings sits near Legoland in Carlsbad, not too many miles from the Pacific Ocean. Inside, is a large round room that acts as a foyer to the guests coming in from the ceremony site. Apparently the room was originally intended to be an outdoor patio, but was later turned into a covered addition to the reception room. I found that interesting!
Kristen and Cody were certain that they wanted a DJ who could really get their guests dancing. They spared no expense in making sure that their guests had all of the amenities of a top notch wedding. From hiring Sabrina Cadini, one of San Diego’s most sought after wedding planners, to using ePod photobooths, the most sophisticated and high quality photobooth in San Diego, possibly even the United States all the way to hiring a true turntable DJ (myself) and utilizing advanced services from me, like 12 amber colored uplights around the room, to a wireless cocktail speaker on the patio, so their guests would be able to hear music and announcement no matter where they decided to congregate.
Kristen and Cody’s special events and dance floor were absolutely a blast for me! I had so much fun making them dance to various genres. They had many friends who liked to dance. From the summer of Electro Remixes and hitmakers like LMFAO, I saw the rare opportunity to DJ a very high energy Electro and Top 40 set which really got the crowd going. Earlier in the evening, I had a fair amount of challenges competing with the ePod. The ePod photobooths are so detailed and fun with props, amazing lighting, the photobooth even talks! So I knew I was going to have to wait until the guests had the opportunity to get some photos in the booth, before I could get the dance floor packed. I was right however. As soon as the photobooths time was wrapping up, the dance floor was packed to the brim until the end of the evening.
This was my first time working with Sabrina Cadini as well. I could tell from speaking with her on the phone that she was experienced and detail oriented. What I didn’t anticipate was just how pleasant it was to work with her on the day of. She is truly talented at what she does doing many tricks and helpful things that I had never seen before. Having her to help me allowed me to focus on the music even more and made for a truly memorable event. A special thanks to Gary and Courtney for the photos for my blog! Such a great couple who are talented at what they do. I appreciate you taking the time to send me the photos for my blog.
Thank you Kristen and Cody for your trust in DJ’ing your wedding. I had an amazing time and it was truly great getting to know you and getting to DJ for you. Best of luck in all that you do!!!!
