This is a wedding that took place in summer of 2010 at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa. The Sheraton is overlooking Legoland and the Pacific Ocean and is a beautiful North County San Diego wedding location. Brian and Mary Gallegly, the Bride and Groom, planned the wedding entirely themselves and did a fantastic job.
The ceremony took place on the south lawn, overlooking Legoland. Brian and Mary decided to use Jack Johnson’s “Brushfire Fairytales” as the guests arrived to the ceremony area and found their seats. I thought this was a nice choice considering the location. Southern California and the Pacific Ocean seemed to be laced within Jack Johnson’s music and it was a great introduction to the rest of the evening. The ceremony songs were even more unique, ranging from Slightly Stoopid to Kid Cudi.
Following the ceremony was cocktail hour, taking place in the foyer. The guests didn’t have access to the reception room as it was still being setup. I think this turned out to be a nice tension and release. The uplighting and custom monogram in already beautiful room, really seemed to take the guests breathe away as they walked into the room. The bridal party had an extremely energetic introduction to the Theme Song from “The A-Team” (I was able to find an instrumental version). The bridal party made an “A” immedietly after they were introduced to create a very cool entrance for the guests of honor.
Dinner and toasts followed, into the Bride and Groom’s first dance. They had choreographed practiced their first dance to The Feist’s “1, 2, 3, 4” which I sped up by 6 BPM’s for them, as requested by their dance teacher. The rest of the evening continued on with a solid dance floor and Brian and Mary having an amazing evening. The party lasted until midnight with still a huge attendance. In my experience, hotel weddings seem to have a very positive effect on the dance floor, as many of the guests have planned to stay at the resort that evening
Brian and Mary were gracious and a pleasure to work with and I am honored to have been apart of their beautiful Wedding day.
