I really enjoyed working with Maegan and Josh at their Leo Carrillo Wedding. It was my first time to DJ at this venue, even though it’s rather close to home. Maegan came to find my services through an unlikely source: my neighbors. Tony and Lici are awesome neighbors and friends gave Maegan (who is Lici’s niece) my brochure and told her a bit about me. Lici and Tony are often seeing me put my turntables into my van and such and loading up for events, so it’s no secret that I am a full-time Wedding DJ to my neighbors.
Maegan contacted me, and we met and talked about music and itinerary. As most of my meetings do, it went very well. We were able to pinpoint her musical tastes and talk about the venue layout and such. We discussed her having a mariachi band for part of cocktail and even dinner, and even using them for the wedding ceremony (rather than typical DJ sound). The layout had some tricks, but we were able to get to the bottom of it rather quickly. Another venue walkthrough right before the wedding, and then finally the big day!

After that, the Bride & Groom took the mic to thank their guests for coming. I think this is a classy and innovative way to approach the wedding itinerary. Start with Bride & Groom. It seems so much more sincere when they have their own point in the timeline to talk to the guests, rather than just being assimilated into the toast order.
A beautiful rustic and antique layout for dinner. Catering took quite a while at this particular wedding. It was buffet style and they just couldn’t quite keep up! Luckily, the Bride & Groom had allotted a lot of time for their reception as a whole, so it was okay that things were at such a relaxed pace.
Throughout most of cocktail hour, and parts of dinner, the guests enjoyed an authentic Mariachi band. They sounded amazing! I’ll be sure to update this blog with information from this band when I can find it!

Father / Daughter Dance Song: “Unforgettable” by Nat King and Natalie Cole
Dancing started in the daylight. I had a feeling that things would get more and more energetic as the sun went down, and I was right!
Lots of Top 40 and classic hip-hop at this wedding. Great times all in all!

A special thanks to 828 Studios for the fabulous photos and for getting them to me! It was my first time working with them, and hopefully not my last. Also, it was great working with Gia Zopatti, our wedding coordinator. I had never worked with Gia either and it was relaxing and organized. The decor, layout and flow of the event were spot on. And lastly, thanks to Maegan and Josh as having me as their wedding DJ. Even though you had a rather close referral, it still requires a lot of trust when hiring entertainment for your wedding and I appreciate the opportunity!
